Ok. I have a confession.

I’m a news junkie.

300 Posts!

As we near the 2nd birthday of the blog, it's pretty cool to say that we've had 300 posts!

I've mentioned this before, but I'm pretty proud that our blog has lasted so long. People start and give up on blogs so fast in this day and age, and i think its cool that this one is going the opposite direction. Not only have we added two new contributors, but it appears that we are producing content at a much more steady rate. (At this point last year, we only had done about 20 posts in the first two months of the year.)

But actually lets take a look at the distribution of our blog posts:



What do we notice? Obviously we had a strong start, and then the honeymoon period was over. But we also notice, that aside week 20, in the last month, we've produce more a week than ever before (not taking account the honeymoon period).

I do wish we had a visible and significant increase that shooted up from the lull that has defined the blog since our first few months. I've noticed this on google analytics too. Then one day, maybe we can finally press the big red monetize button and rake in the dough.

But what I am really saying is that I'm optimistic about the blog's future.

While I thought about doing a Tedley-esque, Highlights of the last 200 posts, I decided not to because of the time commitment. But I do highly recommend going back through some old posts. I've done this a bit and have had quite a few good laughs. It's also interesting to see which labels get tagged the most (First Mate Charlie, Beer, Alfredo, Music...).

May we keep growing, creating, and contributing.

Happy Birthday Blog

Wow. Anyone else realize that our blog has lasted a whole year? I'd say that's a pretty good accomplishment! I know several people who have studied abroad or went on to a new locale and tried to blog about their experiences and failed miserably. But our collective action has kept this ol thing alive and well!

Ted did a great recap of the first 100 posts and hell, its been a little over 200 posts now! Our blog has gone through some changes in the last year. For example, our first week of blogging, we posted 15 times collectively! My personal goal is to keep it up and to post more often. I actually enjoy doing it.

I'm still looking to monetize... But we would have to actually get our viewer count up. So let's start writing and attract some more readers so that we can have coins raining down on us!

So here is to us! We all deserve a pat on the back.

Hope that you guys are enjoying the onset of spring. For those of you on break, enjoy the lack of pressure.

The First 100 Posts

First off, the blog is neither dead nor dieing. I think the blog is much more enduring than the ocho's foray into jumpstyle. I haven't posted in over a month now (ok much more than a month), but I like to think that the blog and I were just on a break. You know, like a break in a relationship when you say that you need time apart to figure out how you feel about each other, but really just want to break up but it's too hard to just say it so you draw it out for a long time. But in my case, I really didn't want to break from teh blog for good, and I've come to realize that the blog still means a lot to me, and I hope I still mean a lot to it.

Anyway, I'm going to post more about my summer and some original content soon--after I wake up hopefully, or after the weekend if I don't have time--but for now I'm going to post what I was going to post a while ago before the blog and I took a break.

I was planning on commemorating the first 100 post of our blog with allusions parralleling it to the first 100 days of a presidency. However, neither is this still topical nor do I have the energy to think up many such allusions at the moment, so here are some of the highlights I was planning on posting before:

• Stadium 110 enters the blogosphere
• The blog goes down after one day, but has been going strong since.
  
• 5% of our posts supposedly pertain to wingsuits. Not bad, but we could do better.
• Mark posts an entire manifesto, makes a lot of veiled threats about future posts, so far has failed to follow through on most.
• We say farewell to BK, on a sad day the fellowship is broken
  
• BK is voted the most popular member of stadium 110.
  
• The 12 steps to the best spring term ever
• BK arrives in Russia, begins writing his novel: Russia and Me: The BK Story.
• Alfredo makes an appearance.
  
• Tim and I give the first lesson in our drinking course. Apparently we've been too hung over to show up for any more lessons.
• Stadium 110 goes live all over the world. We still do it sometimes here.
• The blog withers for a week, but is revived with: A recap of the missing week, a much more fuzzy recap of the previous weekend, more wingsuit related content, and some dank ass astro shit.
• The International Year of Stadium 110 begins on the 21st day of the first lunar cycle after the vernal equinox.
• BK adds a bunch of pictures to his novel.
• World Clock Wall!!!
• Jumpstyle comes to Stadium 110.
• And what ended up being the 100th post: Mark becomes a published author (not just on the blog) and, despite being drunk, is still as coherent as most of the other submissions in The CLAP

I think this list shows we accomplished quite a bit of blogging in our first one hundred posts, and maybe it will serve as inspiration to revive the blog. Keep checking in, because I'm sure there is a lot of good stuff to come in the next 1,361 posts (yes, that is an allusion).

By the way, for those still celebrating, today--the Aphelion, the fourth of July on the Gregorian calendar, Independence Day in America, Liberation Day in Rwanda--is the 13th day of the 4th lunar phase of the International Year of Stadium 110.

The Happiest Room on Campus

So Annie and I were listening to Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! earlier tonight and one of the "Lightning fill in the blank" questions was about a study that found a link between blogging and happiness among college students. I found a blog post on this study. Clearly boundless happiness awaits the men of 110 & Company.
