Baby fish

About a week ago, one of my fish gave birth. So now there are about 20 baby fish (called fry) in my 10 gallon tank.

Here is a video of them at one week old eating (warning: very boring).



Also, for Ted and Toto, note that the background in the back left corner is a cover of Science. I plan on filling the rest of the background with science magazine covers that look "natural."

Maddie the Baby doesn't want a public option

Congressmen Shadegg (R-AZ 3rd) brings his staffer's baby onto the House floor to tell the Congress what she thinks about health care reform. She has an incredibly precocious, well-formed opinion.



Is it just me or is she actually trying to keep congressman Shadegg from speaking into the microphone?

I wonder how she'll feel fifteen years from now when she learns she debated health care on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives when she was 7 months old. I think I'd feel a little bit humbled and incredibly weirded out.

The Social Security Administration has come out with its list of the most popular baby names from last year.

Theodore is 295th with a tad over a thousand more of us born last year.

Some cool, interesting, or displeasurable (IMHO) names that I noticed on the list:

Maximilian - 300th for boys (There's actually a lot of baller names starting with Maxi-)
Junior (that's sad) - 637th
Remington - 721st (321 boys - I hope at least one of them is a Steele)

Jagger - 954th (also would go well with Steele)

Genesis (really?) - 95th for girls

Why do people feel so compelled to name their little girls after concepts of which they are vaguely supportive?
